Material designation
01
State the requested tube material designation and the applicable material standard. Equivalent grades should be reviewed against the drawing and agreed in writing rather than assumed to be interchangeable.
Specify tube material, dimensions and surface requirements for your drawing and application.

OUR APPROACH
Specify honing or skiving and roller burnishing (SRB), and seamless or welded construction. These are separate process and construction choices.
The result is a written set of requirements for your order — material, dimensions, surface condition and agreed inspection records.

TECHNICAL REFERENCE
| Parameter | Reference value | Application / confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Reference grade | E355+SR | Source finished H8 tube family; other grades require a separate specification. |
| Construction & standard | Seamless: EN 10305-1 · Welded: EN 10305-2 | The catalogue distinguishes both routes. Confirm the construction in the order. |
| Finishing process | Honed or skived and roller burnished (SRB) | Specify the required process; ready-to-hone tube is not a finished H8 tube. |
| Published size notation | [50–40] mm / [270–220] mm | Source notation is retained because the table does not explicitly label OD and ID. Confirm the OD × ID pair; do not infer every combination. |
| Bore tolerance | H8 | Reference finished-bore tolerance. H9 cold-drawn tubes are listed separately. |
| Bore roughness | ≤0.2 μm | The source states roughness of 0.2 μm or better without naming Ra/Rt; confirm the parameter and measurement method. |
| Straightness | ≤0.8 mm/m | Source tube value, not the ≤0.2 mm/m chrome-bar value. |
| Eccentricity | ≤4% | Confirm the definition and measurement method for the tube. |
| Roundness | Within the specified limits | Source gives no separate numeric limit; agree one with the bore tolerance. |
| Material hardness | Confirm by grade and condition | No chrome-layer hardness applies to this unplated bore. |
| Length | Confirm for the order | No universal supply length is specified in this reference. |
| Chemistry — C / Si / Mn | C ≤0.22%; Si ≤0.55%; Mn ≤1.60% | Confirm the order requirement with your quotation. |
| Chemistry — P / S | P ≤0.025%; S ≤0.025% | Confirm the order requirement with your quotation. |
| E355+SR mechanical reference | Rp0.2 ≥450 MPa · Rm ≥580 MPa · A 10% | Source E355+SR row; verify delivery condition, sample direction and applicable tube standard. |
WHAT TO SPECIFY
Specify one size or several drawing references. Confirm the material, dimensional tolerances, finish and documentation for each line item before an order is agreed.
Material designation
01
State the requested tube material designation and the applicable material standard. Equivalent grades should be reviewed against the drawing and agreed in writing rather than assumed to be interchangeable.
Dimensions & tolerances
02
Provide diameter, length and the tolerances that affect fit and assembly. Include any straightness, roundness or related geometric requirements shown on your drawing so the complete dimensional scope can be confirmed.
Bore requirements
03
Specify bore diameter, bore tolerance and the required internal surface finish. Include any cylindricity or related bore geometry criteria on the drawing so they can be reviewed with the inspection scope.
Surface roughness
04
State the required surface roughness and the surface to be measured. If the drawing includes a measurement method, sampling length or acceptance limit, include it with the enquiry for confirmation.
End details
05
Cutting, turning, drilling, tapping, chamfering and end machining can be specified. Include threads, shoulders, holes and the current drawing revision so finished dimensions remain clear.
Inspection documents
06
Request an MTC or EN 10204 3.1 inspection certificate with the inquiry when required. Confirm document scope, material condition and traceability alongside dimensional, roughness, hardness and geometric inspection requirements.
Packing requirements
07
Our standard packing is paper wrapping followed by wooden cases. The paper helps protect rod and tube surfaces from scratches, while the outer wooden case helps guard against knocks during handling and transport. Include any special packing requirements with your inquiry.

OUR PROCESS
From drawing review to agreed supply
Each enquiry starts with the drawing and ends with an agreed scope. Material, dimensions, finish and inspection requirements are reviewed together before supply is confirmed.
Step
Drawing review
001
Start with the requirement
Send your drawing, revision, quantity and application. State the requested tube material condition and any requirements that are not shown on the drawing so the enquiry can be reviewed as a complete specification.
Step
Material review
002
Confirm the designation
Review the requested material standard and delivery condition. Where a grade alternative is proposed, its suitability must be checked against the specified requirements and accepted before it replaces the original material.
Step
Dimensions
003
Define the fit
Check diameter, length and all specified tolerances against the drawing. Record straightness, roundness and end details wherever they affect the intended fit or assembly.
Step
Surface review
004
Confirm the working surface
Review the surface finish and bore geometry requirements. Acceptance limits and the inspection method need to be confirmed against the drawing before an order is agreed.
Step
Order agreement
005
Put the scope in writing
Confirm the reviewed specification, quantity, documentation and packing requirements. Delivery timing and any remaining technical questions must be resolved in the written order agreement.
Step
Release review
006
Match the agreed records
Review the records required by the order alongside the identification and packing details. Any deviation from the agreed scope requires review before the material is accepted for dispatch.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What to confirm before placing your order.
The finished honed/SRB reference uses H8. A ready-to-hone tube still needs bore finishing. H9 cold-drawn tube is a separate supply condition.
Send your drawing and required parameters for review. Material, dimensions, surface requirements and acceptance criteria are confirmed in the quotation.
Send the exact product, material, delivery condition, dimensions, quantity and drawing. Specify tolerances, roughness, straightness, hardness, inspection records and any special packing requirements.
A drawing can be used to review the material and dimensional requirements. Include the current revision, applicable standards and any supplementary acceptance criteria so open points can be confirmed before ordering.
